History
The feast falls on 24 June, the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist, when the yard fills and there is a morning service. The church is contemporary, in a neo-Byzantine line, thought for a neighbourhood that spread after the old parishes no longer fitted.
The turrets and façades read from the street; inside you find a recently worked iconostasis and a wide space, good for baptisms as well. It is not a nineteenth-century monument, but a place of neighbourhood worship.
If you catch the feast, come early. For the rest of the year, Sunday is the surest day to find the door open.
