History

Vulturu appears on maps from 1854; around 1861 it was called Kartal, then Cartal, and since 1933 it has borne today’s name. The Church of the Holy Voivodes had a first building of the nineteenth century; the present one is tied to craftsmen and founders from the Hârșova area — Manole, Mitu Nicolae, Grigore Popa — and to works from 1888 into 1966.

The feast of the Archangels fills the village. If you come from Bugeac, it is the stop in the commune centre. Go in for the iconostasis and the founders’ inscriptions.
