History
Some three kilometres from Izvoarele, on the terrace above the Danube, the walls of Sucidava read in the grass. It is a late Roman fortification, fourth to sixth centuries, a guard point on the river, not a site with a ticket house.
The gravel road from the village breaks up toward the end; the last metres are on a path. Take water and field shoes. From above you see the bend of the water; below, ditches and low walls. It is not the Sucidava at Celei — this is the one at Pârjoaia.
