History
At 41 Tomis Boulevard, between 1861 and 1869, in the time of Sultan Abdul Aziz, the mosque called Hunkiar (or Aziziye) was built. It is the oldest Muslim place of worship remaining in the municipality of Constanța. The plan is almost octagonal, thick walls, a mihrab toward Mecca.
It suffered in 1941 and was repaired after 1990, then again in the 2000s and 2024. The interior is sober, with quotations from the Qur'an.
It is on the centre route, between the museums on Tomis and the peninsula district. Fridays it is busy; on other days you can look from the gate or go in if it is open.
