Constanța National History and Archaeology Museum
History
In Ovidiu Square, in the communal palace of 1912–1921, stands the national history and archaeology museum. The collection runs past 430,000 pieces - the second of its kind in the country. On the ground floor are the treasuries; above, the rooms of Dobrogea history.
The Glykon serpent, Fortuna and the stele of Pontos are the pieces people ask for. The cases of Roman glass and the inscriptions from Tomis, less photographed, are worth it too.
The entrance is from the square, opposite Ovid's statue. Take a combined ticket if you also want the Roman Mosaic Edifice, a three-minute walk away.
