History
From C.A. Rosetti you take the communal road southwest and, after some four and a half kilometres, you reach the Letea sandbar and an isolated monastery, opened in 2005. The dedication is the Nativity of the Mother of God; the house belongs to the Bishopric of Tulcea, and at the beginning it was linked to the name of Augustin Hotovi.
It is one of the hardest-to-reach places of prayer in the Delta: sand, wind, oak forest and nearly wild horses in the area. Do not count on a shop or a guided timetable; ask in the village before you leave, especially off-season.
If you have come this far, leave an hour for Letea Forest as well, not only for the monastery courtyard. The road is the same, and the afternoon light on the sandbar is why people put up with the dust.
