Heroes' Monument in Cobadin

History

In the centre of Cobadin stands a monument of stone and mosaic paid, in good part, from money gathered in the commune. It is for the locals fallen in 1916-1918, on a territory where hard fighting was given for control of southern Dobrogea.

It is not a capital-city obelisk. It is the village square, with names, with wreath-layings on Heroes' Day and with a silence that lasts two minutes, then traffic returns. Read the inscriptions; some families are still in the village.

If you are doing a front route, tie Cobadin to Topraisar, to Țepeș Vodă and to Târgușor. Otherwise it is only a ten-minute stop between two county roads.
