History
Between 1882 and 1895 Cernavodă raised the church of the Holy Emperors Constantine and Helen, with support from the Ministry of Cults, in the time of Take Ionescu, and with the sacrifice of the community. The plan is in a cross, with a dome, in the line of a late-nineteenth-century Byzantine. Athanasie Rădulescu is among the names tied to the site.
The First World War struck the town on the Danube; the church needed repairs, then twentieth-century furnishings. Today it is the town's large parish, not a museum.
You see it from the hill, you visit it between the train and the bridge. If you have come for Anghel Saligny, leave 20 minutes for the nave as well: it is the same epoch of Romania building on the river, in another material.
