History
The mosque in Cernavodă, tied to the name of Memet Efendi, is dated to the 18th century - local tradition says 1756, in the time of Osman III. It is a Category A monument, with thick walls and a short minaret. 19th-century renovations, including around 1868, changed the roof, not the plan.
The interior is low, with wood and carpets. It is a place of worship, not a museum.
It is in town, close to the old district on the Carasu. You can see it on the way to the bridge or to the Axiopolis Museum.
