History
In 1961–1962 Mina Laurian, Virginia Petrea and Cristina Kedzierska designed Hotel Perla, in the wave of building led by Cezar Lăzărescu, when Mamaia was to look like a new, state resort. The building has some 14 levels, rhythmic windows and little decoration, to the taste of the modernism of that time.
It stands perpendicular to the strip of sand, so it cuts the wind and shades part of the beach in the afternoon. After 1990 it passed through different operators, but the volume remained the same landmark of white concrete.
You see it from everywhere in the south of the resort. It is worth a look from a distance, to understand the grid of the 1960s, then a coffee on the ground floor if it is open, not a museum visit.
