History

On 25 September 1932, a year after the death of Ioan N. Roman, Ion Dimitriu-Bârlad unveiled the bust of the lawyer, journalist and politician who wrote and judged for Dobrogea. To the ceremony came magistrates, writers and people from the Tribunal, the Prefecture and the Court of Appeal.

Roman had also belonged to “Avântul Țării”, in the logic of the years around the First World War. The plinth is sober; the face is of a jurist, not a general. It is a monument of local gratitude, not of propaganda on a great boulevard.

Stop, read the plaque, go on. If the man interests you, look up his texts on the province; the bust is only the door.
